I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter, No. 388, dated 27th May 1866, and in reply, I am directed by the Officer Commanding the Garrison to inform you he is of opinion that if His Excellency, the Governor, is to state that he had given directions to the Officer Commanding the troops to take into consideration the practicability of firing salutes from some other place than the Murray Battery, for the reasons specified in your letter of the 16th instant, together with any further remarks His Excellency may be desirous of.
